The word accessory has a double meaning: an object that completes an outfit or a costume in a play, a variable part that can be added to a tool, and something not essential, not so important.

Just like ornaments and many other artefacts and visual cultures, accessories have been discarded from the Northern Western canon of what has been imposed as serious, central and important.

But in this project, accessories play an essential role. Together with anecdotes, punctuation and other details, they are starting points for deep dives into subversive publishing practices, and also forms for transmission and sharing.

And very importantly, in accessory, there is access.

Accessibility is another overlooked dimension of publishing, despite its amazing potentials, not only in making things public, but also because it comes with a series of tools that expand forms of knowledge-making and storytelling in a fabulous way.

Open up all your senses, activate your protheses, and let’s roll together through the audio tracks, the cyborg and paper pages…
